Five Tips To Grow Your Detailing Business This Summer

Summer Can Be The Most Important Time Within A Detailing Business

Van Halen (yes I am that old) has a song named "Right Now" and that song or at least it's title should be burned in your head from June 1 - November 1 like it's a Harley Tattoo on a biker!

Summer is a very, very important time to take action at not just staying busy now, but building up your client list for months and years ahead! Here are five tips for growing your business this summer and taking the future into consideration.

  1. Be Visible - You need to be everywhere and involved in everything within your community but how when you are busy detailing? Time management is one way and also enlisting the help of spouses, family and friends. Have others attend functions such as car events, chamber meetings and or referral group meeting. One way I have been able to be at every event in town was having T-shits made up. I had $6 each T shirts done up that were a tad off and drew peoples attention and gave those shirts to my ideal clients who in turn worn theme everywhere and thus...I TO WAS EVERYWHERE! Also, I had nice poly shirts designed and gave those out to our golfing clients this year...so far...over $4,000 worth of detailing in just a couple months! For those in our group...I will be sharing what I did to make these shirts work so well!!!
  2. Gain Key Information - Gain all the information that you want but if you don't use it correctly it won't be worth a penny. Do you know what a email address is worth if you are a detailing professional? I will give you a hint...Thousands!! You better be getting email, mailing and primary and secondary phone numbers from your clients! Also....learn to be a social butterfly and learn the habit's your client base has. Do they golf, play tennis or?? Know that information can lead you to some very affordable marketing opportunities.
  3. Educate While You Have Their Attention - How are you educating your market? Did you know that each of your clients is a prospective sales person for your company? I have a team of about 300 sales people and not one of them is on payroll. Educate your client base to your way of thinking and let them know that you are the local expert when it comes to car care. Education within detailing is one of the most important steps you can take. Stand out from the pack and make sure your market can see and hear your message of dominance within your local market.
  4. Stay Engaged - You have a solid and growing client list but do you stay in contact with that client base and what is the message when you do? Making your phone ring takes time and money and you better be engaging those clients at many fronts several times a year...not just when they call you for service. The Detailer/Client love affair can be short lived if you are not seriously keeping in contact. Email me direct and I will send you a link to the number one resource I have for this task! renny@detailingsuccess.com and put "Engage" in the subject box within your email.
  5. Build Trust - Do you want to see your bank account grow? If so, get your market to trust you and you will gain new clients at alarming rates. Trust is huge within detailing....why? Well, due to the fact that so many detailers are guessing they know their stuff many make mistakes, cause damage and burn bridges and thus make trusting detailers tough. BUT...if you are one of the few of the true "professional" detailers out there, you can get your client base referring you several times a year and nothing is better for your schedule, bank account or self worth then knowing people trust you and thus referral you to others they know. How do you build trust? Well that is another five tip topic that I will cover another time...until then...Happy Detailing!
